First week back on the job for 2015. Whether business or personal I feel as though with a new year comes great responsibility to somehow become ‘more awesome’ at life. Talk about pressure! It seriously feels like that somehow we had roughly 10 days from the end of last year to the beginning of this year to turn into superman/wonder-woman and in reality all we did was get fat. Slightly off the mark I’d say. My motivation got lost with my dignity when I went back for fourths at Christmas lunch. Generally it takes about, oh let’s see……….the first THREE MONTHS of the year, to muster up something that resembles motivation. I say having a plan is the only way this awesomeness business can actually be achieved. There is ALWAYS an excuse about ‘not being ready’….definitely NOT a valid argument. We, as humans, can never be fully ready for anything. Why, you ask?! Because, we can’t read the future. There is no crystal ball, so a plan is all we have. To be honest plans are something I get excited about.
– Removes unnecessary overheads – literally – you don’t need to pay expensive office rates; printer leases; phone line rental
– Empowers and Encourages – You are entrusting productivity with your team members, proving that there is a level of respect and understanding that you believe in each other to get the work done which results in higher motivation.
– Efficiency – Given that you are empowering and therefore motivating team members through giving them responsibility and accountability for their work this, combined with the fact that there are less office distractions productivity will increase (this is only based on people that fit the remote working mould – some people will not be productive in this situation – it is what it is).
